Chief Executive Officer
Matt Ostrander is co-founder, majority owner, Chairman and CEO of Parkside Lending, LLC. Matt oversees day-to-day operations, drives Parkside’s business vision and develops subsidiary projects. Since founding the company in 2004, he has grown Parkside to a national Wholesale and Correspondent Platform, emphasizing a highly automated business model and creating a company culture that fosters creativity, trust and enthusiasm for the work and the industry.
Parkside is a Third Party Originator that has produced strong returns through up and down cycles in Mortgage Lending. He and his veteran management team navigated the company through the mortgage deterioration of 2007 and 2008 that consumed many mortgage banks, commercial banks and other financial services companies in the United States.
Matt has a history of building companies from start-up to success by breaking down complex processes and working collaboratively with others to create simple systems that yield proven results. His experience spans an array of industries, including music, interactive media, medical software and entertainment production.
He is a Director for the California Mortgage Bankers Association Board, where he serves as the President of Residential Real Estate, and a Board member of the Freddie Mac Advisory Board. Matt also serves as President of the Mill Valley Soccer Club, a nonprofit youth sports organization serving 2,500 families in Marin County; serves as President and Chairman of the Board for Parkside Mortgage Trust REIT; and is a co-founder and major shareholder of @Home Financial Services Company, Van Ness Insurance Services, LLC, and ParkSoft, LLC, a mortgage software company. He has formerly served as a Director on the board of TeraRecon, a medical software company.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Matt graduated from Cornell University in 1993 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. He lives in Marin County with his wife and three children. He coaches children’s soccer and enjoys traveling, photography, drawing, surfing, skiing and music.
Chief Financial Officer
Hanford has more than 20 years of senior executive level financial management experience in both private and public companies within the mortgage, financial services, and software technology industries. Prior to joining Parkside Lending in 2010, he was the VP of Finance for the largest online provider of residential mortgage lending in the United States, where he managed the departments of the controller, treasury, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
Hanford also spent a number of years in the high tech industry, most recently as the Corporate Controller at a software company that led the industry in the development of cloud-connected online consumer storage space. While the VP of Finance at another company, he was a member of the IPO team, led two successful acquisitions, and managed the implementation of an enterprise system.
Chief Credit Officer
Kathleen brings over 25 years of strategic leadership experience to Parkside. She recently managed credit for a large, national, lender, creating the oversight and administration of the firm’s lending policy. Kathleen has been an executive in diverse disciplines within mortgage banking including capital markets, sales, operations, and credit. The depth and breadth of her career includes senior executive roles with some of the most successful firms in the industry. She has served on a variety of National MBA and CMBA committees
Chief Operations Officer
Mike oversees the Operations functions of the company including Set Up, CSR, Validation, Underwriting, Appraisal Review, Disclosures, Closing, Vendor Management, Client Relations, and NDC Purchasing. He previously managed the Internal Audit function for Parkside Lending, as well as Quality Control, Fraud, and Performance Management programs.
Prior to joining Parkside Lending in April 2014, Mike was the Vice President of Quality Control at a regional mortgage company, where he managed Quality Control, Fraud, and Repurchase Loss Mitigation.
Mike’s education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and a Master’s in Business Administration. In 2015 he became a Certified Internal Audit Practitioner.
With more than 15 years in the industry, Mike’s experience includes mortgage operations, training, quality control, process improvement, and risk management. His background includes a variety of leadership roles at a multinational banking and financial services corporation, including Senior Vice President – Portfolio Manager, Senior Vice President – Pre-Fund Quality Control Integrity and Effectiveness, Vice President – Line of Business Risk Manager, Vice President – Quality Assurance, Assistant Vice President – Process Improvement, and others.
Chief Compliance Officer
Laurie Spira joined Parkside Lending, LLC as Chief Compliance Officer in 2014. She brings 16 years of experience in the mortgage lending industry to the role.
Prior to joining Parkside Lending, Ms. Spira was Chief Compliance Officer at DocMagic, Inc., the leading provider of loan documents and compliance services in the mortgage industry. Prior to joining DocMagic, Ms. Spira worked in policies and procedures, project management, risk management, and compliance for a variety of lenders, including Washington Mutual, ResMAE Mortgage Corporation, and Kinecta Federal Credit Union.
Mortgage banking is Ms. Spira.s second career. Previously, she worked at the Disneyland Resort for 18 years, where she held a variety of roles in operations, training, and organizational development. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from California State University, Long Beach. A lifelong resident of California, Ms. Spira lives with her family in Orange County.
Executive Vice President, Secondary Marketing
Patty Gong joined Parkside Lending in 2007. Since that time, her notable accomplishments include building the company’s first pricing engine, rolling out its hedging protocol, adding the first loans to its servicing portfolio, and issuing Parkside Lending’s first GSE and first GNMA securities. Patty continues to manage interest rate risk, trading, and investor relationships; the Lock Desk, Shipping and Investor Relations teams fall under Patty’s purview. As a member of the Credit Committee, the Interest Rate Risk Committee and the Executive Committee, she is a key voice for corporate strategy.
Patty has more than two decades of mortgage banking experience, including managing mortgage pricing, interest rate risk, capital markets, operations, and product development. Before joining Parkside Lending, Patty worked at Alliance Bancorp and Integrated Capital Group. Patty was recently named as one of the MPA’s Elite Women in 2016.
Bill Chudy, CFA
Executive Vice President, Mortgage Portfolio, Pricing, and Products
Bill manages Parkside Lending’s mortgage portfolio, pricing, and product development, as well as develops business intelligence and strategic partnerships. He has more than 10 years of experience managing credit, liquidity, interest rate risk, capital markets, mortgage and home equity pricing, product development, and loan production.
Prior to joining Parkside Lending in February 2013, Bill was the Asset Liability Manager of a large regional bank where he managed enterprise interest rate risk and the mortgage portfolio within the treasury division. His responsibilities included behavioral modeling for mortgage prepayments, originations volume, loan and deposit balances and pricing, credit analysis, and price elasticity modeling.
Executive Vice President, Sales
More than 20 years of sales and 16 years of sales management experience in the mortgage business serve James well at Parkside Lending. He guides the National Sales Team to consistently higher production levels, and is a member of the Executive Committee which sets direction for the company.
James joined Parkside Lending in 2008 after more than 14 years with the mortgage group of a large, international bank, where he held several positions of increasing responsibility, from Wholesale Account Executive to SVP and Southwest Group Manager. After the sale of that lender to another large mortgage entity, James was named VP, Divisional Sales Manager for the Southwest, where he oversaw a team of 65 account executives and four regional managers covering five states.
Executive Vice President, Sales
Clint oversees the National Sales Team, guiding it to consistently higher production levels, and originally joined Parkside Lending in 2008 as an Account Executive. He is a member of the Executive Committee which sets direction for the company, and has been instrumental in helping the CEO grow the company by more than eight times its initial size.
Since entering the wholesale lending industry over a decade ago, Clint quickly became a top producing Account Executive and then progressed into Sales Management. As a manager he leveraged his sales and management expertise to build top producing regions. Clint is a founding board member of the Marilyn Rosenthal foundation, dedicated to empowering our youth through education and activity. Previously, Clint had a successful career in the field of High Tech spanning two decades, where he held senior and executive management positions at well-known international tech companies.
Chief Technology Officer
Chuck Wong joined Parkside Lending, LLC in 2012. Mr. Wong oversees Parkside’s technology organization and provides strategic vision that aligns with business, as Parkside continues to grow as a nationwide lender and leader in the industry. He brings over 20 years of technology experience and over 8 years in the mortgage industry.
Prior to joining Parkside, Mr. Wong came from Redwood Trust, a mortgage REIT, where he managed high-impact technology initiatives with both vendor and internal systems to support key business initiatives.
Prior to joining Redwood Trust, Mr. Wong spent his entire career in technology, the majority of it building software across various industries giving him a deep understanding of software development and systems. Throughout his career he has gained valuable experience and exposure to many technologies, methodologies, companies and roles delivering technical solutions for major business objectives.
Mr. Wong is a graduate of California State University, Chico, and holds a B.S. in Business Administration: Management Information Systems.
Senior Vice President, Systems Optimization
Ronya Rjaile joined Parkside Lending in 2007 and has held multiple positions within the company, including expanding and managing end-to-end Operations as well as building out the Non-Delegated Correspondent channel.
In her most recent position as the SVP Systems Optimization, Ronya is able to utilize her 15+ years of mortgage operations experience to create efficiencies within our proprietary LOS to improve the customer experience, increase productivity and allow the company to be more scalable.
Gail has more than 20 years of experience as General Counsel in both private and public companies within the financial services and technology industries. Prior to joining Parkside Lending in 2014, she was General Counsel at a technology company providing an electronic trading platform for fixed income securities. Her extensive background includes serving as General Counsel for the provider of an alternative home equity product; for an education finance company; and for several real estate and consumer lending divisions of one of the world’s leading financial services companies.
Director of Recruiting
Rick joined Parkside Lending in January 2013, He leads the recruiting function and enjoys building strategies around the full employee life cycle, including recruitment, workforce planning/development, and succession planning. He has more than 15 years of experience in recruiting, including being the Director of Recruiting for large well respected specialty retail brand and more recently as the AVP of Talent Management of a publicly traded REIT specializing in jumbo mortgages.
Vice President, Performance Management Metrics and Reporting
Robin Patzert just celebrated her 20th year in mortgage banking, returning to her Wholesale Lending roots when joining Parkside Lending in September 2015.
Robin grew up in the business, starting as a Wholesale Coordinator, ultimately taking on senior leadership roles in Retail and Direct Lending Channels at CitiMortgage, JPMChase, and LoanDepot. She transitioned her operations expertise into successful roles overseeing strategic initiatives in support of executive leaders. Some highlights of her career include: winning a Presidential award for her leadership of a new business unit, leading an operations integration for a major Retail merger, and created key leadership training modules.
In her current role, Robin drives initiatives as an informed ambassador of the business and executes the vision of those she supports. Her accomplishments include building key production monitoring reports to drive business, comparative trending data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and maximizing momentum. She is working to build a data and intelligence infrastructure that will include a full suite of scorecards and KPI’s for the company as a whole and all supporting departments.
Vice President, Servicing
Barbara Fagundes joined Parkside in early 2016 as our Vice Presdient or Sevicing. As an industry veteran, Barbara has over twenty years of mortgage banking experience. She has held a variety of management roles within Servicing, Default and Business Development. Barbara’s committed to providing our borrowers exceptional service post funding. She is focused on building and sustaining a flexible, accountable, compliant, driven organization that delivers superior service.
